Ramadan Potluck Iftar

Dear members and friends,
ECCAO's annual Potluck Iftar will be held on SUNDAY, AUGUST 22nd from 7:30 to 10:00 PM.
Location: Walter Baker Sports Center, 100 Malvern Drive, off Greenbank Road, in Nepean (Barhavven). 
Cost: (to cover the rent of the renting the hall)
For members:         $2 per adult or $5 per family
For non-members:  $5 per adult or $10 per family

Please arrive no later than 7:30 PM as Iftar is at 8:00 PM.

ECCAO will provide dates to break the fast, along with refreshments, coffee, and tea.
Please follow the guidelines below for the food items and be generous with your portions:

 1.  MAIN DISH* (can consist of chicken, meat, fish, vegetables etc)
          and
 2.  either salad**, side dish***, or dessert****

*     Examples of Main Dishes:  Mahshi, Ferakh (chicken), Saneyet batates bel ferakh, Kofta, Kofta bel ruz, Kebab Halla (stewed meat), Roast beef, Turkey, Samak (fish), gambari (shrimp), Fattah bel Lahama, Mashed potatoes with meat, Macaroni bel bashamel, Veggie / Meat Lasagna, Kosa (zuchinni), Bamya (okra), Kharshouf (artichoke), Cauliflower bel 3saag, Mesak3ah (eggplant), Fasolia (green beans), Besilla (peas), mixed vegetables, Koshari, etc.

**    Example of Salads : bean salad, green salad, potato salad, macaroni salad
 
***  Examples of Side Dishes: Shorbet-Ats (Lentil soup), Fettet-Molokhia, Bossara, Feteer Bel Asaag (Phyllo stuffed with Meat), stuffed puff pastry stuffed, Biram Ruz, Potatoes, Pasta, Chickpeas, Tahini, Hummos, Baba Ghanoug, etc. 
         
**** Desserts examples: Baklava, Basboosa, Om Aly, Konafa, Khoshaf, Kataif, Khak, Rice Pudding or Fresh Fruit or fruit salad

In the spirit of Ramadan, we encourage you to bring some non-perishable food items for donation to the food bank.

Notes
- Don't forget to bring serving spoons/utensils to serve the food item
- The community center will have Public Swimming available from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Please contact Walter Baker Centre for details.  
- There will be a TV and DVD to provide entertainment for kids. Families are also encouraged to bring some board games for the kids.
