Ottawa Mission Volunteers for Thanksgiving Dinner

Dear members and friends,

 

Join us in contributing to our community.

 

Following a successful event last year, under the umbrella of ECCAO, we are inviting you to volunteer some of your time & money to help the less fortunate people of Ottawa.

 

Upon contacting the Ottawa Mission, the organizers indicated that they are in desperate need for money and help during Thanksgiving Day, Monday October 11, 2009.  They need between 15-20 peoples & enough money to help out with 2400 people who show up for Thanksgiving meals (lunch & supper).  We are currently scheduled for the 2:00 PM to 5:30 shift. Can you join us?

 

We are also looking for your donations to cover Thanksgiving meal costs for the less fortunate. Tax receipts can be issued. 

 

Dr. Mervat El-Tair has generously volunteered to organize this event and collect all donation cheques to deliver to the Ottawa Mission.

Eid El-Fitr Celebration

Dear Members and Friends,

It is our pleasure to invite you to join us for a celebration of Eid El-Fitr; an afternoon of food, fun and entertainment for all ages.

Please note that reservation is required.

It is very important that you confirm, by e-mail (info@eccao.com) by Wednesday September 8, the number of adults and number of children meals to ensure that we have the right amount of food.

Lunch is catered by the Clay Pot (El Fakhara) restaurant (see menu below) and will be served between 1:00 and 2:00 (to ensure warm food).  This will be followed by games and fun for children of all ages.  Please bring your favorite table game or outdoor game with you.  Weather permitting, the outdoor park and playground can also be used and you can join us in a game of volleyball or Frisbee.

Entertainment for the kids will be provided by Dr. Kaboom's Mini Mobile Circus

Full Cost (incl. food):

Adults:           $12.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members

Children (12 years and under):   $6:00

Admission only (no food):

Adults:           $3 for members and $5 for non-members

Children (under 18 yrs with their parents): Free       

Please bring exact change or a cheque written to ECCAO; it will be collected at the door.

Menu:

Chicken Beriani w/ special rice (with peas, carrots, raisins and almonds),

Kafta in sauce (tomatoes, onions, green peppers and garlic) with white rice,

Hummus, Green salad, Bread and a soft drink.

Note: Adults get both types (chicken and kafta) and children get one type.

ECCAO

Les Grillades Second Iftar/ DInner

Dear Members,

ECCAO is inviting you to a second Iftaar at Les Grillades.  Since it is a little restaurant with limited seating capacity, participation will be on a first confirmed basis.  ECCAO has made a reservation for 45 persons.

The cost is $32 for adults, and $16 for small children (Tax & tip included).  Small children may also share their parents meals at no cost.  The owner would like to issue only one bill to ECCAO, so please bring exact cash (or a cheque) with you.   The menu is listed below.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before Maghreb.
